what good is there?

I'm not political. I'm really really not. I don't want to get invovled. I can't be bothered to go for rallies, picket this or that and demonstrations but I'm definitely aware of what happens and I'm seriously annoyed. Why???

I don't know how long I can just accept all that's happening. Are we really supposed to accept this sickness that is happening all around us?? The average syndrome. Are we really expected to be affected yet not do anything about it? Can people live like this? If yes, for how long?? Do we really do nothing about it? It's our life we're talking about for goodness sake. Yet, look at those who ARE trying to do something about it; whether in the field of politics...media...or even just in a social sense. Environmentally?? Is there change?

Gosh, there's so much wrong I don't even know where to start!

Really, as mentioned previously, please, think about the nation. Consider YOUR people. YOUR children- the future.

This is a beautiful country. Its culture...heritage...natural beauty....people. Don't ....

Don't forget that
Don't destroy it
Don't give it up for the sake of power and wealth

What good is there if you gain the whole world but lose your soul in the process of it?

Dear Malaysia, enough with the sensationalism in the offices and higher powers. Enough with the power struggles.

please...

-sincerely love the country
-love your people
-take care of the nation
-uphold the quality of the lives entrusted to you
-be proud of this beautiful place and protect it.....

happily ever after

alright, the movie was not too bad

true enough, there were scenes that were worth skipping over and fast forwarding, but who wouldn't want a movie that plays up forgiveness, friendship and love

so....yes, everyone lived, happily ever after :)

sadly...it was over-rated

we allow ourselves to get caught in the hype of things and we forget that everyone's different and thus, we have different perceptions and ideas.

I finally watched the very much anticipated Sex and the City. For my fellow Malaysians, the movie has yet to be screened locally. It'll only get here in July.... The movie was so very very anticipated, after the four years (?) end of the series. The on-set fights, gossips, rivalry and the lives of the four main characters propelled this movie to a 'must watch' and worth-waiting status. The lives of four women who has changed so much in four years yet come back together to a make believe world of absolute love, fashion and money.

I know when a movie's lost it when I could actually stop the movie twice (!!!) to go make myself a cup of tea. No doubt, there were moments of true friendship, loyalty and lots of really really beautiful clothes and shoes in the movie, it didn't live up to what it was touted to be.

the wonders of the WWW

ah, the wonders of the internet....

was at work when a friend called up asking for directions. She's from DU and I'm a born and bred Cheras girl. She had to get to Cheras.

If you have ever been to Cheras, you will know that not even living in Cheras for 20 years will make any difference when trying to locate an obscure 'taman'.
There are, I'm quite sure, over 100 'taman's in Cheras. And my friend happened to have to go to one I have never ever heard of.

But because I was sitting in front of the lap-top, Google lived up to its claim of being the best search engine. We found the map within a tap of a few fingers. And she's now on her pretty way there.

How can we go back to living without the internet.....?

may I have both please?

say what you mean....
mean what you say....

Same or different?

I think need we both as much

where have they all gone??

I wonder-is there nothing genuine left in this fickle world we live in....? I'm not talking about material things. But yes, (!!!) items are getting pricier and of such a ridiculously high quality now that they cost more than an arm and a leg. Things are getting more complex and gone are the days when an item is simple and user-friendly. It's like, the more complicated looking it is, the more prestigious it is. But anyway...I have digressed again.

I was watching some people giving speeches which I know well, were written for them and I wondered, why don't they prepare their own speech? Don't they want to say something they truly believe in?? Here they are, talking to the masses, trying to introduce a new idea/brand/concept, and what do they do? They read- from something someone else has written. You could see it-- from the way they READ and their eyes, that they're merely reading and probably only seeing the text for the first time in their life. I mean, if I were to convince someone of something, I'd want to know what I'm saying and I'd want to actually believe in that idea/item/concept and not just spout meaningless things. Sure, it sounds nice and well put together, but ....one look at your face tells me something entirely different.

Having had the chance to work in three very different companies and in totally different lines, I've been in the position of seeing how things really worked behind the scenes. And I am sad to say, I've been absolutely disappointed. Nothing is genuine. Everything's a hype nowadays.

In fact, I was just wondering the other day;

what happened to integrity? Don't get me wrong. I love change. I'm all for going forward and evolving with the times, but I long for the days where if you give your word on something, then you mean it and people can count on it.

what happened to passion?? Yes! Money IS important. We all need it. We all want more of it. But to lose yourself in order to gain more of it- is that really worth it? Do we just do something, say something, not because we believe in it, but because of what it can give us? Why???

Sadly, people and things around us are so 'fake' nowadays that we are all cynical. We doubt everyone and everything we see. We question and disbelieve it because at some point, we were all guilty of the same thing- saying things we don't mean, selling something we don't believe in. trying to convince people of something we have no idea about, trying to look good at the expense of others.

I'm not living in utopia land. Neither am I an idealist but I truly truly believe that if you respect the truths of life, despite everything else, you CAN succeed.

Life respects life!

semi-vege

is there such a thing as a semi-vege?

was thinking of being a semi-vege.... Why? coz I've never succeeded at it. I could usually do anything I set my mind to but when it comes to food ....... =.=
so this time, MAYBE, I'll try to... just maybe

the internet our life-link

agree or disagree?

every morning, when I roll out of bed, the 2nd thing I do, after brushing my teeth is to log on and get my mails =.= seriously. Even before I bathe, I'll make sure the comp is up and running. Only after looking at the list of emails received while I was in dreamland, am I satisfied and willing to bathe and go through the one-hundred-and-one thing girls do every morning to look human.

Arriving at the office, again, the first thing I do (before anything else, like switching the air-con on) is to press the tiny 'on' button on my laptop.

It got me thinking...what WILL we do with no internet??

But then, who can blame us when we have friends all over the world? I NEED the internet.....don't I? Hmmm...

cigg break

no I don't smoke. but I was just thinking....

at at work and colleagues sometimes take a cigg break. I wonder if we non-smokers get to have a snack break....? >_<

the bigger the better?

people started using handphones a long long time ago. But the fad really caught on when I was in college. I remember when there was a time where we could ONLY sms ppl within the same network. The moment we could start sms-ing friends on another network, sms-ing skyrocketed.
anyway...I digress.

was at a press conference where I was 'misted' in cigarette smoke. I bet I now reek of it...but again, I digress.

I was watching these people on their phones. A few years back, the 'in' thing was to have a phone as slim and small as possible. Doesn't matter if you have to squint to see what key you're pressing. Doesn't matter if you press the wrong key more often than not. As long as it's slim and small, then, that's the one. But now!

It seems that everyone is vying for the bigger phone. I don't mean big as those our dads or grandad used. But chunky PDA/MDA/whatever-DA phones. Everyone's trying to inconspicuously show off the fact that they're on a PDA phone...Blackberry...Vodafone... and the hundred other models coming up.

How fickle we all are.....

Is there nothing in our life that is constant....?

ps: don't tell me change is constant. Yeah, that, is cliched, though true ;)

malaysians

was listening to a local radio station while working. The deejays asked people to call in and share what they think Malaysians lack, in terms of courtesy. Many people called in, sharing what they dislike about Malaysians. Here's what I found amusing.

1- the notorious driving and road skills of Malaysians. Apparently, road safety and manners are not part of our make-up. People tailgate (the closer they stick to you, the faster they think you'll go)...accelerate on 'orange' and red lights...cut in as and when they think you're not going fast enough...flash at you when you're in the way AND going according to the speed limit and put on indicators they are NOT supposed to when it's raining. Oh but worst of all are the massive jams that happen anytime people THINK something interesting is happening or when there's a minor accident =.=

2- the way people just rush around, barge in and push through, everywhere, anywhere and at all times of the day

3- lack of manners? not saying thank you and please enough ....

4- oh and this I found funny. The use of plastic and paper bags. I think that people here actually REVEL in taking as many plastic bags as they can. Every few item they buy will be put into a brand new bag. When I shop and refuse a bag, the people will actually stare at me and ask if I'm sure I don't want a bag. I might not be the most environmentally-aware person around but even I TRY to minimize the use of unnecessary 'pollutants'.

the list definitely goes and and so the calls flooded in.

As I listened, I wondered, well IF so many people are actually aware of what's wrong, why then are there no changes. It can't be that we're ignorant of our faults and not aware that there is something wrong. Why is there no change...?

So is it a case of knowing what's wrong yet just living and going along with it because everyone else does it?

why people blog

I used to be dead set against blogging. Being the opinionated me, I stood by my idea of those who blog. I insisted to all who listened that people blog because they want attention (yeah, sorry, hear me out). And...it is therefore sad that they have to resort to writing-in the hopes that 'someone' somewhere will happen to read what they've written and emphatize/symphatize with them. SO, I was determined NOT to blog or get sucked into the blog-mania. You know how 'what goes around comes around'? We often end up eating our own words. That's right, here I am ....blogging =.=

Why??

Well... having matured and wisen-up (I hope), I realize that blogging is not so much about other people. It's really something for yourself. I love writing. I have opinions (sometimes too many). I see things...I think about them and I want to write them down. Thus my blog. I'm not afraid to admit that yes, my previous perceptions of blogging were wrong and I did have a skewered and rather limited mindset of what blogging was all about.

I think that this is part of life. Realizing that you make mistakes...and what you thought was right and 'so and so' were often your rather childish and limited point of view. To be able to admit that and see the bigger picture makes you a person with a larger capacity of love and wisdom.

So the question is; am I now talking to myself? or am I still, also, hoping that someone will be reading this? Hahaha ....

Well, if someone reads it, great. I would ask- what do you think? And if no one is reading and I AM writing to myself, grea too! Because laying it all out is so much clearer. You see what you think and that gives you space for learning and growing.

So yes, I think that blogging is a great concept or for some, a great past time :D

a midnight movie

my sister and I went to catch a movie yesterday. We were going for the 11.45pm movie and upon reaching the cinemas, found it packed- full of people waiting to get into their cinema houses. But of course, it was a Saturday night. We queued for popcorn and was directed to this young-ish attendant. I placed the order for a small combo and was given a 'medium sized' pack of popcorns. Remarking to my sis in chinese about why we got medium when I asked for small, the guy cheerfully explained that now, the 'small' combo actually is a 'medium' popcorn. I was like, 'Oh, that's nice. Ignore my lack of knowledge. I'm just 3 8'. He actually laughed back and wished us a good movie. You know, people are really really friendly if you are. None of the snobbish, aloof kinda attitude and you'll find the nicest people around. Some say that people are cold ...unhelpful and even evil. You know how our mothers warn us about 'big bad world'?? Well....actually...it's not that bad.

I've had countless encounters of great strangers who made my day. Is it because I choose to go about my day happy and exuberant? Oh yes I love life. And no, my life is NOT perfect. I was NOT born with a silver spoon in my pretty mouth. I do NOT have a million-dollars paying job and I AM not naive or ignorant of the dangers of the world but you know, if you just CHOOSE to look at the beautiful things of life, it really is better. Yeah, some might call you silly for always believing in the 'goodness' of people, naive maybe, in thinking that everyone is kind and loving but if doing that makes you happier, then why not??

After all... isn't it what you choose to make out of your life that matters?

Stay with me then and we'll see what The Day and life of a Fashion-Loving Joie De Vivre is like!

XOXO
